In 2024, Romania recorded a total score of 6.91 in the Well-Being Barometer, surpassing Bulgaria (6.69), but below the Czech Republic (7.84), Poland (7.81), Slovakia (7.25), and Hungary (7.01). The report emphasizes that well-being is a collective effort, involving not only health and education systems but the entire society. Although there has been progress, accelerated reforms in health and education are necessary. The barometer, conducted by MIR Research, provides a comprehensive picture of well-being, based on 12 components and 16 indicators, reflecting dimensions such as health, education, and social well-being. Romania faces challenges in health, particularly in prevention and mental health, and difficulties in education, but is doing well in terms of social well-being. The report suggests a growing appetite for prevention and information, but also highlights existing systemic barriers.
