Within the EU Council of Ministers, the Minister of Energy, Bogdan Ivan, announced the connection of Romania to the new 'energy highway', facilitating the link with the electrical networks of Western Europe. Investments for interconnection will be supported by European funds that could reach approximately 30 billion euros by 2035.

The strategic project provides for the doubling of Romania's interconnection capacity, from 4,000 MW to 7,200 MW. Additionally, Romania will benefit from the Green Corridor, which will connect energy from Azerbaijan. Ivan emphasized the importance of this project for reducing energy prices and increasing energy stability. In collaboration with Hungary and Austria, Romania will develop a memorandum for accessing European funds, estimating that by 2028 it will be connected to energy markets in the West, such as France.
