Bogdan Ivan, the Minister of Energy, stated that Romania is considered a strategic player in the region, following the meeting in Washington with American officials for Energy and Internal Affairs. Ivan emphasized that the country urgently needs more energy in bandwidth, considering that it has lost approximately 7,000 MW of production in the last decade, which has affected economic competitiveness and increased pressure on prices. He stated that to have a strong industry and lower bills, Romania needs to invest in stable energy production, especially nuclear and natural gas.
The minister agreed with American officials to strengthen bilateral cooperation in the energy sector and to position Romania as a provider of stability in the regional energy architecture. Ivan highlighted the importance of projects such as Neptun Deep, Cernavodă, and Doicești, which he considers essential for the energy security of the region and the economic future of the country. He emphasized that the partnership with the United States is crucial for technology, financing, and rapid execution, aiming to transform Romania into a regional leader in energy.
