The Social Democratic Party (PSD) announced that it has sent a letter to the President of the European Commission, Ursula von der Leyen, with proposals regarding the future salary law, requesting measures to protect the incomes of employees in Education and Health, without affecting access to funds from the National Recovery and Resilience Plan (PNRR).

The initiative, carried out by the Vice-President of the European Parliament Victor Negrescu, together with the President of the Health Committee in the Senate Adrian Streinu-Cercel and the President of the Education Committee in the Chamber of Deputies Alexandru-Mihai Ghigiulideri, aims to "identify legal and technical solutions that will allow the implementation of the reform without diminishing the incomes of staff in education and health and without affecting essential public services," according to a statement.

In the document, social democrats request clarifications regarding the protection of the incomes of staff in the two sectors, recognition of the specificity of these professions, and the realization of simulations regarding the impact of the salary reform.

The initiative comes in the context of criticisms made by PNL, which accuses PSD of delaying the necessary reforms to unblock funding through PNRR.
