Prime Minister Ilie Bolojan will participate on Thursday, in Brussels, at the launch of the EastInvest Mechanism, an initiative of the European Commission aimed at mobilizing public and private investments in the regions of the European Union bordering Russia, Belarus, and Ukraine. This platform is part of the recently adopted EU strategy for the eastern regions, in the context of the economic and security impact generated by Russia's aggression. EastInvest will bring together important financial institutions, such as the European Investment Bank and the European Bank for Reconstruction and Development, estimating that it will generate at least 28 billion euros in investments.
The platform will facilitate access to loans and consultancy for projects aimed at developing the economy and increasing resilience in these regions. Romania will participate through the Investment and Development Bank, playing a role in structuring eligible projects. The event will be opened by the President of the European Commission, Ursula von der Leyen, and will include discussions with leaders of the targeted states. Additionally, Prime Minister Bolojan will have a meeting with von der Leyen to discuss the implementation of the National Recovery and Resilience Plan and Romania's priorities in the future multiannual financial framework of the EU.
