Prime Minister Ilie Bolojan stated that he agrees with the business people who complain about the lack of competitiveness due to high energy prices. He emphasized that the current energy system in Romania operates at higher prices than would be normal, due to wrong decisions and the tolerance of intentional price increases. Bolojan announced that he will take measures to increase energy production, considering that Romania needs about 9,000 megawatts to operate efficiently. He mentioned that if an additional 1,000-3,000 megawatts were added, prices could decrease significantly. The Prime Minister explained that energy producers are facing difficulties in connecting to the networks due to their occupation by other players in the sector. Bolojan promised that he would correct the system to allow better connectivity for new investors and encourage energy storage.
