Prime Minister Ilie Bolojan said the fiscal package is the responsibility of the government and does not involve the president. He highlighted the problems with companies accumulating uncontrolled debts and underlined the inequities in the pension system, especially in the justice system. Bolojan said the fiscal measures were adopted in collaboration with the coalition parties, but will increase taxes, especially on gambling. He acknowledged Romanians' lack of trust in the government and warned that Romania is close to downgrading its country rating.
