Former Prime Minister Ludovic Orban commented on the possible appointment of Eugen Tomac, presidential advisor and leader of the People's Movement Party, for the position of prime minister by President Nicușor Dan. Orban emphasized that it would be a "supreme humiliation" for PSD to support a candidate like Tomac, who is not a technocrat and has no representation in Parliament.

He explained that the president must take into account consultations with parliamentary parties and warned that appointing a presidential advisor for the position of prime minister is risky, as a failure to obtain the investiture vote would represent a personal failure for Nicușor Dan. Orban added that, considering the political history, it would be interesting to see PSD supporting a candidate associated with Traian Băsescu, but insisted that the president should come up with a serious solution, not with "political firecrackers."

"It would be interesting, but once again, I believe that the president must come up with a serious solution. Otherwise, he is not a player president, he is a player president at bluff if he comes up with such solutions. That would be a political firecracker, an unserious proposal that in no way would meet the declared intentions of being able to invest a government that ensures. Somewhere in my nature, I would be happy to see PSD supporting the emulation of Traian Băsescu, to see how Traian Băsescu aligns in supporting a favorite backed by Traian Băsescu. Considering history, it would indeed be a supreme humiliation for PSD to support a candidate for the position of prime minister like Eugen Tomac, who, I repeat, is the political product of Traian Băsescu," Orban stated on Digi24.
