<p>After his victory in the presidential elections, Nicușor Dan will resign as mayor of the capital, according to the Administrative Code. The resignation must be submitted to the CGMB and the Prefecture, and the prefect will issue a vacancy order, triggering the organization of by-elections. Until the election of a new mayor, the interim will be taken over by deputy mayor Adrian Vigheciu, according to a decision adopted by the CGMB earlier this year. Nicușor Dan will not support any candidate for successor, leaving behind important projects for Bucharest. Possible candidates for mayor include Gabriela Firea and Cristian Popescu Piedone.
