President Nicușor Dan stated that PSD, PNL, USR, and UDMR are "condemned to govern together" and requested the coalition leaders to reach a compromise for the rapid adoption of the budget for 2026.

"I urge them to find a compromise solution to have a budget. The sooner, the better," said Nicușor Dan, after tensions within the coalition intensified amid debates in the joint committees of Parliament regarding the amendment on aid for pensioners promoted by PSD.

We remind that the leaders of the governing coalition met on Thursday morning to try to unblock the discussions regarding the state budget for the year 2026.

The statements were made in Brussels, before his participation in the European Council, in the context of increased tensions within the coalition, following the blockage of the budget adoption procedure.

Regarding negotiations with the USA and the fuel price crisis, he mentioned that work is being done on a set of measures that will be announced soon. He also highlighted the importance of the energy topic on Romania's agenda at the European Council, advocating for a boost in nuclear production.
