President Nicușor Dan announced that he has notified the Constitutional Court regarding the law that approves the emergency ordinance introducing a new Unique Electronic Register of Transmissible Diseases. He believes that the retention of medical and personal data, including diagnoses and medical history, for the entire life of a person and an additional 180 days thereafter, without the possibility of requesting their deletion, represents a "disproportionate interference" in private life, contrary to Article 26 of the Constitution. Nicușor Dan emphasizes that the management of sensitive data by the state requires clear rules and guarantees against abuses. He also states that, although digital applications in the health sector are essential for preventing transmissible diseases, they must respect constitutional limits and protect private life and human dignity. The contested law is criticized for using unclear terms and for the lack of distinction between those who report the data and those who can access it.
