President Nicușor Dan stated that he wants the formation of a new government with full powers, but he cannot specify when this will happen, adding that the Romanian state functions even in the current political context. He emphasized that the responsibility for appointing the prime minister lies with the parties and pointed out that 233 votes are needed in Parliament to invest a new Executive.
“I wish for us to have a new government with full powers. When this will happen, I do not know, I wish it to be as soon as possible and I insist that the parties meet as often as possible in the coming days and, if necessary, in the following weeks, to find a compromise solution with a majority,” said Nicușor Dan.
The head of state stated that he wants this to happen as soon as possible and insisted that the parties have frequent consultations to outline a majority. Although he mentioned the existence of a consensus on strategic issues, Nicușor Dan indicated that the formation of a clear majority depends on political negotiations. After two unsuccessful attempts at designation, he decided not to push for a nomination anymore, waiting for the parties to come up with a clear parliamentary support.
