Nicușor Dan, before the European Council: We need the transatlantic relationship

Nicușor Dan declared that the informal European Council will discuss the transatlantic relationship, including aspects related to Greenland, tariffs, the war in Ukraine, and a possible trade agreement with Mercosur. He welcomed the de-escalation of transatlantic relations after the discussions in Davos, emphasizing the importance of this relationship for Europe and Romania. The president avoided commenting on the information regarding Donald Trump's proposal for Romania to be part of the Peace Council, mentioning that a detailed analysis of the implications is necessary. Regarding Greenland, he stated that sovereignty is essential, but dialogue is necessary, considering that both countries are NATO members. The extraordinary summit of EU leaders will take place in Brussels to discuss the common response to the actions of the United States regarding Greenland.
