Dan Nicușor explained why he did not go to Mircea Lucescu's catafalque: "I did not want to enter a political area"

President Nicușor Dan declared that he chose not to participate in the tribute to Mircea Lucescu at the National Arena, considering that the moment was profoundly emotional and he did not want to turn it into a political zone by his presence. He emphasized the harmony created in the world of football following this unfortunate event, appreciating the decency of the people who came to pay their respects. Mircea Lucescu, a former great football player and coach, passed away at the age of 80, and his funeral took place at Bellu Cemetery in the Capital, where approximately 200 people attended, including representatives of Romanian football. His lifeless body was laid for two days at the National Arena, where about 15,000 people paid their last respects.
