SOURCES: Nicușor Dan could appoint the new prime minister on Tuesday, almost a month after the start of the political crisis.

Nicușor Dan could designate on Tuesday, June 2, the candidate for the position of prime minister, after almost a month of consultations and negotiations with political parties. The future head of the Government will have ten days to gain the support of Parliament.

In the conditions where political negotiations for forming a new government are blocked, the option of appointing a technocratic or politically independent prime minister, supported by the main parliamentary parties, is being increasingly seriously considered. The idea of an executive made up of specialists is being taken into account as a temporary solution, aimed at avoiding the prolongation of a political crisis.

In this context, several names have been circulated in the public space for a possible position of technocratic prime minister. Among them are Eugen Tomac, MEP and honorary advisor to the president, Radu Burnete, presidential advisor for economic and social issues and former executive director of the Concordia Confederation, as well as Șerban Matei, head of the International Relations Department within the BNR.
