According to the Ministry of Energy, Romania has banned coal imports from Russia since August 2022 and no longer imports gas or petroleum products since December 2022. Additionally, Romania does not import natural gas from the Russian Federation, securing its needs from Western Europe. Despite a Reuters analysis suggesting an increase in energy imports from Russia in 2025 for Romania, the ministry emphasizes that there are no such imports, mentioning negotiations for their gradual elimination.
