Marcel Ciolacu, the former Prime Minister of Romania, stated that the current administration is facing a "deficit of empathy," which could lead to a social crisis. In a press conference, he criticized the Government for the lack of structural reforms and for austerity measures, such as collective layoffs and the freezing of salaries and pensions. Ciolacu emphasized that, despite the measures to increase VAT, the economic deficit remains unchanged, and investments are stalled. He highlighted that, during his term, Romania recorded good revenues due to investments of over 120 billion lei, which suggests that the current government is failing to maintain this positive trend.
