Cseke Attila, the Minister of Development, announced that the legislative project for the reform of local public administration has been reintroduced into public transparency, having been adjusted according to discussions within the coalition. He emphasized that local taxes are revenues of local authorities and will not be transferred to the central budget, stating that this would contradict the principles of public finance. The project provides for temporary reductions in personnel expenses until 2026, with a reduction in the number of positions starting in 2027. Cseke assured that many municipalities will not be affected, as only vacant positions will be eliminated. He also addressed tax inequities, mentioning that the reform will close a loophole through which taxpayers avoided paying taxes for luxury cars, obliging them to pay the tax even for a month of registration.
