Ligia Deca has been appointed Secretary General of Romania's National Commission for UNESCO (NRC UNESCO), following the dismissal of her predecessor Madlen Șerban.

<p>The decision was taken by Prime Minister Marcel Ciolacu and follows the dismissal of Madlen Șerban. Ligia Deca previously held the position of State Counselor in the Presidential Administration and Presidential Advisor on Education and Research. She also served as Minister of Education. The Romanian National Commission for UNESCO was established in 1956 and is subordinated to the Ministry of Education.
