Kelemen Hunor, the leader of UDMR, excluded the possibility of resigning from the party's leadership and stated that Hungarians in Romania have not been manipulated in supporting Viktor Orban, rejecting accusations of propaganda from the party that won the elections in Hungary.
"We do not know exactly what the direction will be, but from the statements of Magyar Peter and from my discussion last night, I do not believe there will be significant changes, at least regarding the principles. As for financial support, there could be changes. Every time a new government has come in, there have been changes, but until we know more, we cannot comment," Hunor said on Tuesday about possible changes for the Hungarian community.
He emphasized that members of the Hungarian community are responsible and mature people who make decisions based on their own assessments, exemplifying with the over 90% vote for Nicușor Dan in the presidential elections.
His response comes as a reply to Peter Magyar's statements, who accused UDMR of misleading Hungarians in Romania.
Regarding the leadership of UDMR, Kelemen Hunor specified that he has not been asked to resign by members, after the formation supported Fidesz.
"No one from UDMR has asked for such a thing," Hunor emphasized.
We remind that Kelemen Hunor announced that he will have a meeting with Péter Magyar, the leader of TISZA, next week in Budapest, after Viktor Orban lost the elections in Hungary.
