Radu Marinescu, Minister of Justice, discussed the increase of the retirement age for magistrates to 65, emphasizing that this should be phased in, according to the law of 2023. Currently, the average retirement age for magistrates is 52-54, and the law provides for a gradual increase to 60. Marinescu noted that an increase to 65 cannot be decided immediately, respecting the mechanisms established by the Constitutional Court.
