President Nicușor Dan is currently engaged in informal negotiations for the formation of a new Government, after consulting on Monday with the leaders of PSD and PNL, Sorin Grindeanu and Ilie Bolojan, however, according to sources cited by several publications, no agreement has been reached. Nevertheless, the option of appointing Eugen Tomac as prime minister seems to be gaining ground.
The informal consultations are expected to continue on Tuesday with the leader of UDMR, Kelemen Hunor, and the leader of USR, Dominic Fritz.
"Many discussions are taking place, it is difficult to estimate whether they will conclude this week. The level of parliamentary support for each proposed option is being verified. Compared to last week, there are progress," sources cited for News.ro explained.
On the other hand, UDMR leader Kelemen Hunor stated on Tuesday in a press statement that this week, today or tomorrow, a prime minister nomination could be made.
According to sources cited by Digi24, although there seems to be a consensus for the option of a prime minister from outside the parties, the same situation does not apply to the ministers of the new cabinet.
We mention that other names circulated for the prime minister proposal have been Radu Burnete, Alexandru Nazare, as well as Matei Șerban or Delia Velculescu.
