Sorin Grindeanu, the president of the PSD and the Chamber of Deputies, criticized the lack of transparency of coalition partners regarding the European SAFE program, intended for the defense industry. During the County Conference of the League of Local Elected Officials Dâmbovița, Grindeanu stated that, although he holds an important position in the state, he does not know the destination of the majority of the allocated funds, mentioning that only 4 billion out of the 16 billion euros are intended for military mobility. He emphasized the importance of directing funds towards the Romanian defense industry, warning that the money is borrowed and must be repaid by the Romanian people. Grindeanu called for better information and transparency in the management of these funds, which should support defense factories in Romania. The SAFE program is a financial instrument of the European Union aimed at supporting member states in defense investments. The event was also attended by other PSD ministers, as well as Deputy Prime Minister Marian Neacșu.
