The ordinance adopted by the government unblocks the compensation process for properties confiscated during the communist period, establishing rules that protect the rights of those entitled. The new method of calculating compensation will be fair, based on the notarial grid and correction coefficients, and will offer flexible payment options. It will also reduce speculation and litigation by ensuring transparency in the reporting of cases. The government estimates that by 2025, it will pay 23.2 billion lei for 67,500 files, given the significant increase in the value of compensation.
