President Nicușor Dan could nominate Eugen Tomac on Thursday to form a Government, several political sources claim. This decision would come in the context where Tomac has not yet managed to gain parliamentary support, but his nomination would aim to reduce the pressure on Nicușor Dan and leave the responsibility to the parties.
Tomac has held discussions with parliamentarians to gather the necessary support, while Nicușor Dan has had meetings with political leaders such as Bolojan, Grindeanu, Fritz, and Kelemen. Currently, the parties remain in their positions: PSD would be willing to vote, while PNL and USR do not support this initiative, and UDMR seems unfavorable.
If nominated, Tomac has 10 days to form the Government, needing 233 votes. The parliamentary configuration shows PSD with 128 votes, AUR with 90, PNL with 76, USR with 59, and UDMR with 31, in addition to representatives of national minorities, POT, SOS, and independent parliamentarians.
