Eugen Tomac is expected to discuss today with President Nicușor Dan, at the end of the negotiations with the party leaders - sources

The designated Prime Minister Eugen Tomac is expected to meet today at the Cotroceni Palace with President Nicușor Dan, after completing negotiations with the parties to gain their support, in order to present the list of ministers and the government program to the head of state.

This meeting comes after a series of negotiations with parliamentarians, in an attempt to secure the necessary votes for the Government's investiture, although consultations are expected to continue in the first part of the day with independent elected officials.

It is worth mentioning that Tomac has had meetings with political leaders from all parliamentary parties, starting with the formations from the former governing coalition, however, until now the social democrats are the only ones willing to support the new Government, while PNL and USR contest the legitimacy of the technocratic ministers, suspecting that PSD is behind them.

Kelemen Hunor, the president of UDMR, stated that it is illogical to vote for a Government that they are not part of, needing solid arguments to support such a decision.

According to sources cited by several publications in Romania, the president has a backup plan, preparing another technocrat to come to Parliament, in case Tomac does not secure the investiture vote.
