USR leader Dominic Fritz mocked on Tuesday the intention announced by PSD President Sorin Grindeanu to take legal action against him over the questions he asked him online about his involvement in the scandal exposed by the WSJ regarding the ousting of the Bolojan Government.
“Grindeanu is sulking and wants to file a criminal complaint against me for the questions I asked him about his discussion before the no-confidence motion with Ambassador Kimberly Guilfoyle, at Isoletta restaurant (lobster salad: 245 lei). Apparently, ‘a line is being crossed’ and I am endangering the Strategic Partnership with the United States.
Fortunately, the Strategic Partnership is stronger than Grindeanu’s nerves.
The Strategic Partnership is not the property of the PSD, nor is it a skirt behind which you can hide from the questions that very many Romanians have. It is a partnership between two states that respect each other and interact openly.
Questions for a political leader from Romania remain questions for a political leader from Romania, no matter how many meals he has at Isoletta. And given Sorin Grindeanu’s and other Social Democrats’ weakness for luxury flights paid for from dubious sources, there is no point in his complaining when he is asked about possible favors he might be hoping for.
Grindeanu also reproaches me for having ‘come to Romania a few years ago.’ It is true, but I came by coach back then, not on the Nordis plane. Maybe that is why, being as fresh as I am, I remember well the PSD’s relationship with America: the PSD drove Exxon out of the Black Sea while paying lobbyists for access to parties, not official meetings.
All Romanians know it, just as everyone has seen the luxury watches and fast cars in the parking lot at every PSD event. It is clear to everyone whose interests you are working for, no matter how many complaints you file,” Dominic Fritz’s message reads.
