The President of Romania had a productive conversation with Portuguese Prime Minister António Costa, during which important topics on the European agenda were addressed. Among the subjects discussed were the defense of the European Union, support for Ukraine, the 19th package of sanctions against Russia, and the need to increase the competitiveness of the Union by simplifying bureaucracy. Nicușor Dan emphasized the importance of balanced climate policies that do not compromise economic growth and the competitiveness of Europe, and welcomed the initiative for a European Plan for affordable housing. These discussions took place ahead of the scheduled European Council (EUCO) summit next week.
