Diana Buzoianu, the interim Minister of Environment, stated that the PSD attacks in court any milestone from the National Recovery and Resilience Plan (PNRR) out of a desire to gain electoral advantage, without considering the impact on Romania. She emphasizes that failing to meet the milestone regarding biodiversity could lead to a loss of 1 billion euros.
Buzoianu asserts that the strategy regarding biodiversity is not a new public policy, but operationalizes objectives already assumed through existing treaties and laws. Despite this, the PSD could request the suspension of the ruling at the Bucharest Court of Appeal, which could lead to the loss of funds from the PNRR.
As a preventive measure, a bill has been submitted to Parliament to ensure the adoption of the biodiversity conservation strategy. Buzoianu criticizes the PSD for engaging in destructive processes instead of collaborating, which risks severely affecting funding for Romania.
