Deputy Prime Minister Dragoș Anastasiu emphasized the need to adopt the fiscal package quickly in order to avoid an economic crisis similar to the one in Greece in 2010, with risks of depreciation of the leu and high unemployment. He noted that delaying the implementation of this package could lead to the halt of European funds and a negative assessment by rating agencies. Anastasiu said there was no time for broad consultations with trade unions and employers, but the next packages will address inequalities and de-bureaucratization.
