Daniel Zamfir, the leader of the PSD senators, stated that he opposes early elections, following an IRES poll that shows a score of 40% for AUR. Zamfir warned that if AUR were to achieve such a result, President Nicușor Dan could nominate a prime minister from this party. He emphasized that early elections could lead to an increase in AUR's score, while PSD could decrease, and PNL and USR would remain around 25-30%.
Additionally, Lia Olguța Vasilescu expressed similar reservations, highlighting the importance of a reliable governing partner. Criticism also came from MEP Siegfried Mureș, who pointed out that PSD polls tend to overestimate the party's score.
