Dan Reșitnec was released, at his request, from the position of Secretary General of the Government, nearly six months after his appointment. Prime Minister Luca Niculescu’s decision was published on Wednesday in the Official Gazette and entered into force on the date of publication.
According to the official document, the duties of the Secretary General of the Government will temporarily be taken over by Petru Farago, Deputy Secretary General, with the rank of state secretary within the General Secretariat of the Government. He will exercise the position with the rank of minister until a new head of the institution is appointed, in accordance with the law.
Reșitnec said on Wednesday, at the USR press conference, that during his time leading the GSG, he pursued increased transparency and performance at RA-APPS. He said he had reduced privileges and protocol expenses without justification in official documents and had sought to ensure that state assets were used in the public interest. Reșitnec also stated that the NRRP projects carried out at the GSG level had been completed.
Dan Reșitnec was appointed Secretary General of the Government on April 27, following the resignation of Radu Oprea after the PSD withdrew from the government. USR’s leadership announced on Wednesday that the party would act as the “shadow” of the PSD Government.
