Dan Reșitnec announces the reduction of the Government General Secretariat’s protocol expenses and the elimination of unjustified banquets

Secretary-General of the Government Dan Reșitnec has announced cuts to the hospitality expenses of the Government Secretariat (SGG), arguing that halving these costs represents the institution’s normal way of operating. The information was presented in a post published on Facebook.

The expenses cover hospitality for government meetings, conferences, and inter-institutional or internationally attended events. According to Reșitnec, a significant portion of the savings resulted from limiting extended analysis meetings, during which external guests received hospitality worth up to 150 lei per person.

The SGG spent 95,000 lei on hospitality in March and 68,000 lei in April. In May, after Reșitnec took over the institution’s leadership, the amount fell to 1,800 lei. This also included the water provided to participants at the Government’s preparatory meeting.

The secretary-general states that the SGG signed contracts for hospitality services worth 2.5 million lei in 2025 and 2.7 million lei in 2026, but the amounts actually spent were much lower. He says that unjustified refreshments and demands by dignitaries covered with public funds have been reduced or eliminated.
