Romanian MEP Dan Nica has secured a significant position within the European Fund for Competitiveness, a program that brings together 14 essential European initiatives, including research, innovation, digitalization, and defense. This fund will support investments across the entire value chain, from research to industrialization. Nica emphasizes that for Romania, this fund represents a crucial opportunity, providing funding for the modernization of energy-intensive industries and energy infrastructure, essential for reducing prices and increasing energy security. The fund covers four major directions: clean transition and industrial decarbonization, health and biotechnology, digitalization and artificial intelligence, as well as security and defense. It will support decarbonization objectives and integrate the Bank for Industrial Decarbonization, having a significant impact on Europe's competitiveness and strategic autonomy.
