The former president of the Romanian Senate, Crin Antonescu, launched harsh criticisms against the current direction of the PNL, led by Ilie Bolojan, comparing it to the ideological practices of the Soviet era.

In a broadcast, Antonescu mentioned that some PNL members, who have gone through various leaderships, now support ideas that contradict the party's values. He highlighted that Bolojan is trying to transform the party in a way similar to Soviet orphanages, wanting to create a "new history."

Antonescu discussed the impact of propaganda on human identity and memory, emphasizing that it can erase the essence of humanity. He warned that the battle for memory and history is crucial, considering the negative influences that have persisted over the decades.

His criticisms come in a context of internal tensions within the PNL, where differences of opinion are becoming increasingly evident.
