Ciprian Ciucu, the mayor of the Capital and first vice-president of PNL, stated in a podcast that Romania could have a new prime minister in a few days, following the annulment of the decisions of the PNL Congress by the Bucharest Tribunal.
He suggests that Nicușor Dan may already have a name in mind for the position of prime minister, which will be discussed on Monday with the parties at Cotroceni. Ciucu does not believe that the interim of the Bolojan cabinet will extend beyond next week. He emphasized that the final decision belongs to the President of Romania, who must choose between Sorin Grindeanu (PSD) and Siegfried Mureșan (PNL, USR, UDMR). President Nicușor Dan mentioned that there is no clear solution at present and requested leaders to come up with proposals at the meeting on Monday.
Political negotiations are stalled, and the leaders of PSD and PNL have divergent opinions regarding the formation of the new government, including the idea of a caretaker executive without USR. Sorin Grindeanu stated that PSD is open to discussions, but PNL must withdraw its decisions that exclude collaboration with the social democrats.
