Ciprian Ciucu, the general mayor of Bucharest, criticized President Nicușor Dan for the pressure exerted on PNL in the process of forming the new government, emphasizing that the main responsibility should return to PSD.

in a Facebook post, Ciucu compared the current situation to historical events from the interwar period, suggesting that the actions of Nicușor Dan could lead to a rupture in PNL. He accused the existence of secret negotiations between Adrian Veștea, appointed by Nicușor Dan to form the new government, and the party's adversaries, without a mandate from the PNL leadership.

"Our colleagues, without a mandate from us, secretly conspired together with our adversaries against us. In good faith, Ilie Bolojan brought Adrian Veștea to the forefront of PNL back in 2024 and recently invited him to all the 'consultations' at Cotroceni. What he didn't know was that Veștea was conducting his own negotiations with Nicușor Dan, supported by the coup faction within PNL. THIS IS NOT DONE!"

Ciucu called for party unity and warned his colleagues not to repeat the mistakes of the past, emphasizing the importance of maintaining PNL's relevance.

"Don't let yourselves be fooled again! I know you all, you are fundamentally honest people, you have a sense of justice. You are people with respectable careers behind you, with clear professional specializations! You, not the coup plotters.

Don't throw the great National Liberal Party into the realm of irrelevance! This party started with prominent historical figures and must not end with us! We have not played our last card on the long stage of history!"
