The President of the Buzău County Council, Marcel Ciolacu, former Prime Minister and former leader of the PSD, claims that Prime Minister Ilie Bolojan has "cut" the "money for pregnant women and pensioners" for no reason and has "absurdly increased taxes", after which he "ordered an accounting trick", Ciolacu asserting that "there is no real reduction of the deficit as a result of the 'reforms'".
"You cut the money for pregnant women and pensioners for no reason, you absurdly increased taxes destroying the private sector and when you saw that the effect is minimal, you ordered an accounting trick to boast about how skilled you are in managing the country's money! This is the truth, Ilie Bolojan! There is no real reduction of the deficit as a result of the 'reforms' made by you. The trick can now be proven with data from the budget execution. Investment expenditures made including during my term, from the first part of the year 2025, were moved from loans from the PNRR to grants and, thus, were recorded as revenues. In total, 0.6% of GDP was moved in December, appearing in the budget and as revenues. Therefore, the tax increases (VAT, excises, etc.) and the austerity measures placed on the backs of poor Romanians and those in the middle class did not have the desired effect on the budget," said Marcel Ciolacu on Thursday in a Facebook post.
