Cătălin Drulă, the former USR candidate for the Bucharest City Hall, criticized Prime Minister Ilie Bolojan's proposal to transfer revenues to the city hall through the General Council of the Capital in the budget for 2026. Drulă emphasized that it is not possible to legislate for the future through the state budget law and called for the adoption of a separate law to amend the Fiscal Code and the Local Public Finance Law. He mentioned that his draft law, which transposes the results of the local referendum from 2024, has passed the Senate.
Drulă requested the support of PNL for the rapid adoption of the law and emphasized that Bucharest residents voted for taxes to be managed by the General Council, not by the Government. He also requested clarifications from Prime Minister Bolojan regarding the ambiguity of his statement. Drulă recently lost the elections for the Bucharest City Hall against the PNL and AUR candidates.
