The former candidate for the presidential elections, Călin Georgescu, avoided, in an interview with Realitatea Plus, to answer what his sources of income are, saying only that "God provides for us all."

"God provides for us all. For me, but also for you, and for those who ask these questions, not for the sake of having an answer, but because they enjoy gossip. Therefore, I am not interested in such things and I continue to tell you that all these retaliations – let’s put it this way – of the system do not honor me in front of God," declared the sovereignist when asked about his income by the moderator Anca Alexandrescu.

He mentioned that his family is "persecuted" and hinted that he might run again, according to Antena 3.

According to his latest wealth declaration, Georgescu no longer receives income from the University of Pitești and his family relies on child allowances, around 600 lei per month, and on his wife's income, of approximately 2,000 lei.

However, he leads an extravagant lifestyle, having bodyguards and a driver. Georgescu stated that he has approximately 260,000 euros in bank accounts.

It is worth mentioning that he was fined 200,000 lei by the Permanent Electoral Authority, but he stated in the middle of last year that he paid half, but also contested it.

He also admitted that he benefited from cars received "free of charge" during the campaign, saving considerable amounts. The controversies regarding his income and expenses continue, considering that he declared zero expenses for the electoral campaign, although information suggests that it was supported with millions of euros.
