In an interview with the French daily Le Figaro, Prime Minister Ilie Bolojan emphasized that a potential rupture of political relations between the European Union and the United States would represent a catastrophe for the West. Bolojan stated that the EU can remain competitive only through unity and economic integration, warning that isolated countries will not be able to face global competition.
Regarding NATO, the Prime Minister declared that the USA remains a security umbrella for Europe, especially for Eastern Europe, and that the American presence in the alliance is crucial. Bolojan acknowledged that Romania benefits from security due to its integration into NATO and supported the presence of military bases, including American ones.
In the context of the reduction of American soldiers in Romania, the Prime Minister mentioned that our country is also taking on greater responsibilities in defense, collaborating with the European defense industry. He emphasized the importance of the partnership between the USA and Europe for global stability.
