Traian Băsescu: "I firmly believe that the annulment of the elections was a Romanian affair, a Dâmbovița affair"

Former president Traian Băsescu stated that the cancellation of the 2024 presidential elections was the result of party interests. He criticized the way the parties organized the elections, mixing the European parliamentary elections with the local ones, which led to confusion. Băsescu emphasized that Georgescu is not a man of the Russians, but a creation of Romanian institutions. He also compared the situation in Romania with that of the Republic of Moldova, which managed to withstand Russia's hybrid attacks, bringing into question the effectiveness of security structures in Romania.
