Former President Traian Băsescu believes that the National Recovery and Resilience Plan (PNRR), through which Romania was allocated 30 billion euros for the relaunch of the economy after the COVID pandemic, shows that the authorities in Romania have demonstrated "inability, incapacity, but also a lot of stupidity," considering that, at the end of the PNRR, Romania's economic growth is zero.
"What does the PNRR show us? We had funding of 30 billion euros to relaunch our economy. At the end of the five years, in August 2026, the relaunch of the Romanian economy has resulted in zero. Romania has zero economic growth, so we did not capitalize on the 30 billion in the interest of the Romanian economy, of the Romanians, and this shows once again inability, incapacity, and, forgive my harsh words, but also a lot of stupidity, meaning the inability to understand. When 30 billion are put on the table, to be used for your economy, and at the end of the five years, your economic growth is zero, what more can we say? What can Romanians say?" said Traian Băsescu on Wednesday evening, on B1 TV.
