Traian Băsescu, about how the money from the PNRR was used: "When 30 billion is put on the table, to use it for your economy, and at the end of the five years, your economic growth is zero, what more can we say?"

Former President Traian Băsescu believes that the National Recovery and Resilience Plan (PNRR), through which Romania was allocated 30 billion euros for the relaunch of the economy after the COVID pandemic, shows that the authorities in Romania have demonstrated "inability, incapacity, but also a lot of stupidity," considering that, at the end of the PNRR, Romania's economic growth is zero.

"What does the PNRR show us? We had funding of 30 billion euros to relaunch our economy. At the end of the five years, in August 2026, the relaunch of the Romanian economy has resulted in zero. Romania has zero economic growth, so we did not capitalize on the 30 billion in the interest of the Romanian economy, of the Romanians, and this shows once again inability, incapacity, and, forgive my harsh words, but also a lot of stupidity, meaning the inability to understand.
