AUR rejects the Niculescu Government and announces that it could support a motion of no confidence filed by another party

AUR announced on Monday that it would not vote to invest the government proposed by designated Prime Minister Luca Niculescu and that the party’s lawmakers would not participate in hearings for ministers in parliamentary committees. The opposition party also says it could vote for a no-confidence motion initiated by another political formation if it considers the motion well-founded.

AUR Senate leader Petrișor Peiu said the opposition’s objective is to dismiss a government whose public policies are considered misguided. He said AUR could even support a motion filed by USR or PNL, depending on the arguments presented.

AUR criticizes the way Luca Niculescu was allegedly designated, the governing program and the composition of the future Executive. The criticisms include the alleged appointment of the designated prime minister’s brother to a management position at CFR Călători, accusations concerning the activities of ministers from the former Bolojan Government, and the size of the Executive, considered “oversized,” with 18 ministers.

AUR spokesperson and MP Ștefăniță Avrămescu confirmed that the party’s lawmakers would not support the Government and would not attend the hearings.

Înainte de anunțul privind boicotul învestirii, Petrișor Peiu a prezentat condițiile AUR pentru a susține un guvern, spunând că partidul cere să participe la actul guvernării, să preia o parte importantă din program și să existe un premier agreat de formațiune. Peiu a afirmat totodată că desemnarea lui Luca Niculescu nu a respectat propunerile partidelor și că AUR consideră că președintele și-ar fi depășit mandatul atunci când ar fi exclus formațiunea de la guvernare.

În paralel, liderii AUR au susținut că un guvern fără sprijin politic nu ar avea șanse să treacă în Parlament, iar mesajele partidului au inclus ideea că negocierile trebuie făcute la nivelul conducerii formațiunilor, nu cu parlamentari individuali. Totodată, AUR a anunțat că este deschis discuțiilor cu PSD, PNL și USR, dar a precizat că vrea ca întâlnirile să aibă un scop real și să se concentreze pe programul de guvernare și măsurile pentru depășirea crizei.
