The Alliance for the Union of Romanians (AUR) has submitted a legislative proposal in Parliament to amend the Tax Code, aiming to reduce the dividend tax from 16% to 8%. The project is initiated by Deputy Lucian Mușat, together with his colleagues Cosmin Hristu and Eduard Koler. Mușat emphasized that the dividend tax has increased over time, from 5% to 16%, and that the state should encourage economic performance, not penalize it.

He argued that a lower tax rate could generate more revenue for the state budget and support the development of Romanian entrepreneurship. AUR has included this proposal in its governance program, highlighting that reducing the dividend tax to 8% would contribute to increasing economic competitiveness and encouraging the reinvestment of capital in Romania. The deputy concluded by stating that AUR must reach power to implement fair tax policies.
