Petrișor Peiu, the leader of the AUR senators, stated that the economic situation in Romania is much more serious than what the government communicates. AUR proposes returning to the standard VAT rates of 19% for goods and 9% for services, as well as a simplified regime for micro-enterprises with a turnover of up to 250,000 euros.
Among the proposed solutions is the prohibition of tax deductibility for multinational companies regarding profit transfer and limiting the deductibility of interest expenses on intra-group loans. Peiu also emphasized the need to convert state debts to companies into tax credits, as well as adjusting contributions based on actual hours worked.
