PNL Vice President Alexandru Muraru announced on Sunday, in a Facebook post, that starting Tuesday, after the investiture vote for the new government, the Liberals will build “the firmest and most combative opposition in decades.”
The leader of PNL Iași stated that the party would monitor every decision, appointment, contract, and public expenditure and would make any abuses and irregularities public. Muraru argued that the PSD must assume full responsibility for governing and accused the party of clientelism, waste, and protecting privileges.
His position comes after the PNL Iași branch announced that it did not support the investiture of the new Cabinet, while the party leadership subsequently decided to grant conditional support to the Government led by Luca Niculescu.
Muraru stated that a national political alternative based on consistency and competence could be built around PNL President Ilie Bolojan. He also said that public discontent must not be left to radicals and demagogues and described the coming confrontation as a struggle to prevent the PSD from “capturing Romania.”
