PNL Deputy Alexandru Muraru launched an attack against AUR leader George Simion after several former American diplomats requested the United States to re-evaluate his visa status. Muraru emphasized that Simion's tour in the USA led to an official request for the cancellation of his visa, mentioning an opinion article in The Jerusalem Post signed by former ambassadors and American officials.
“Simion's adventures in the USA have turned against him. The extremist's tour at the top of AUR ended with an official request from important American diplomats for the cancellation of his visa,” Alexandru Muraru posted on Facebook.
He accused Simion of false pro-Americanism, highlighting his refusal to condemn Russia's aggression in Ukraine and his opposition to American military measures in Romania. Additionally, Muraru criticized Simion's support for Călin Georgescu, accused of extremism. The deputy concluded that Simion's image is problematic in Washington, emphasizing that his presence raises questions about his right to travel to the USA.
