Georgescu's outright victory over candidates backed by traditional parties has raised fears that Romania could be forced into a pro-Russian reorientation. Such a result would be a shock for the EU and NATO, given the country's status as a member of these organizations. The winning candidate, Călin Georgescu, does not belong to any political party and has about 3.8 million likes on TikTok.
