AEP will reimburse a total of 59.9 million lei out of a total of 228 million lei requested by all candidates in the 2025 elections. The decision not to reimburse is based on the discovery of non-compliant donations and propaganda materials. According to the legislation, candidates who exceed the 3% vote threshold can request reimbursement of expenses, but non-compliant donations, without all identifying elements, are not eligible. Nicușor Dan announced that he will donate the money received as a donation, although he has not yet decided on its destination. In his campaign, he obtained 57.3 million lei from loans and 3.6 million lei from donations.
